INXS Part Two

We went and saw INXS in concert last night. Overall it was a pretty good show. The new guy sounds almost exactly the same as Michael Hutchence, which was actually kinda creepy.

My wife and I had more or less boycotted their TV show (to find a new singer) because it just seemed so exploitative. I would never have thought to see them live, but a friend had some extra tickets and we figured the company would be good even if the concert wasn’t.

They played mostly the hits, which was a welcome relief to me because I haven’t heard their new album. The songs I did hear were rather pedestrian. They followed the same vibe/sound/feeling that INXS has always had (which is a good thing), but they were very vanilla.

Like I said, overall it was a good show. The “”new guy”" had good stage presence and they all played very well. The sound quality wasn’t the best, but that wasn’t the bands fault, its just an echo-ey venue (Daughters of the American Revolution Hall or something like that). The music came across really well, but you couldn’t understand what the singer said in between songs.

I went to the INXS website to look up info on the new singer and they actually want to CHARGE you MONEY just to look at their BIOs. What a crock!! Its free advertising and propoganda for THEM and I’m expected to pay $25 for the privilege !?

Good thing there’s wikipedia, but honestly, now I’ve totally lost interest :o)
